Lice Products

I never thought my next post would be on lice. Its not what I would have chosen but after receiving a flier from one of the kids school nurses I'm back in anti-lice mode. We have tested all the home remedies and products popular on shelves in the past 10 years including the ever popular RID and even the prescription strength do not use in enclosed spaces one. I cant believe I did that to my kids but I was desperate!
I wont cover the wonderful life cycle of the louse. there are plenty of sites for that take the one listed on the flier below www.headlice.org .What I will cover is how to quickly and effectively get control over your infestation Pesticide free, easy to apply and best of all No nit picking.

Now the problem with most pesticide lice products is that they have been using these for decades and we now have what I call super lice. Pesticide resistant lice. Also this can happen when the products weren't successful the first time so the infestation then became pesticide resistant.
(stills from the 2011 movie Tree Of Life depicting DDT use in small town america)
I love that these are from the City of Waco

What you'll need

Licefreee with cap and nit comb (included). I buy mine at walmart they seem to be the only ones who have a steady stock. If you can afford it keep a box in the medicine cabinet because when lice goes around this stuff goes fast and you don't want to wait 3 days for reorder or shipping when your kid has lice, Thats when the hair clippers start looking like a real good option.
A large blanket or sheet
Shower caps, if you will be treating more than one child at a time.
Movie (optional)
Trash bags

Step 1: Apply Licefreee gel or spray per instructions we have used both products and have gotten the same awesome results! It smells like black licorice and is pesticide free.

Step 2: Movie time! (60 min for licefreee to work) let the kids hang out on a blanket or sheet while watching a movie. While the covering isn't necessary it makes me feel better about an easy clean up. Cause your work isn't done yet.

Step 3: COLLECT AND BAG EVERYTHING your kids heads come in contact with.
ALL pillows, baseball caps and non washable stuffed animals should go on the high heat cycle in your dryer for 15 min or more.
All fabric, clothes, and sheets wash in HOT water.
Anything you cant wash or dry needs to be bagged and stored for a month to starve them.
Give carpets, mattresses and couches a thorough vacuuming.

Now its time to pick nits (eggs), while this step is not necessary because we have successfully killed both the live eggs and bugs some daycares and schools wont allow kids with nits back because with other products this usually means they are still in an active phase of infestation.
The licefreee comb is the best one sold and its free. I still use one as a flea comb for the dogs.

We are going to try the Licefree shampoo as a preventative.

Also I would like to mention that in no way did I benefit from the writing of this piece and I am not affiliated with LiceFreee, Just a very happy satisfied customer.
